It is a lovely, pure ingredient that is an excellent addition to your beauty routine and diet.
The versatility of almond oil is amazing! As mentioned above, almond oil can be ingested or used topically to enjoy its benefits. Whether drizzled on top of salad or a baked good, it can work internally to improve the elasticity of the skin. Almond oil is anti-inflammatory and moisturizing, so can be applied directly, as well!
Of note, if you are allergic to nuts, do not use this oil. Consult your healthcare physician before adding almond oil to your diet or beauty regime.
Techniques for How to Make Your Own Almond Oil
The most efficient way to make almond oil is to use an oil press. But if you don’t have access to one, there are two other techniques to make your own almond oil: with a carrier oil and without. The major difference between the two is time. Using a carrier oil will complete the recipe within 3 days, while without takes about two weeks.
For our recipe, you will simply blitz almonds into a powder, then pour into a jar with a carrier oil that sits for 48-72 hours before it is strained. The secondary technique blends the almonds into a powder as well, however goes a step further by adding a touch of oil until the almonds become a paste. The mix sits in a jar and for about two weeks. The oil within the almonds will then separate from the nuts themselves. The oil is drained from the paste and voila – almond oil!
Pick the technique that you feel is best for you! Not using a carrier oil will provide the strongest potency of benefits from the almonds. The quicker option will supply a milder advantage of the almonds, but brings the added bonuses from the carrier oil.
Ingredients & Equipment
Almonds – Look for raw, organic almonds for your homemade almond oil. Almonds in their raw form have the highest concentration of beneficial nutrients. The closer something is to your skin, the better quality it should be!
