When you’re looking for a drink with all of the rich flavors of Irish cream and vanilla that’s chilly and refreshing, well, this Starbucks copycat cold brew drink is for you! It’s insanely simple to make, and it also gives you a wonderful reason to pull out that frother you were given for your birthday and just don’t play with enough! (Note: The “you,” in that sentence, was really me.)
Also, if you’re a big at home coffee drinker, I’m willing to bet that you have all of the ingredients on hand for this wonderful concoction, so you don’t even have to make a special run to the grocery store.
I call that a win.
And let’s face it – while the Starbucks version is great, it’s also expensive. This is a little cheaper, way more convenient, and you can have it any time at home!
Starbucks irish cream ingredients and tips
Cold Froth Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons whole milk
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon Irish cream syrup
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Cold Brew Coffee Ingredients:
- 1 cup cold brew coffee
- 1 tablespoon Irish cream syrup
The best dairy for this drink just plain, unassuming, regular old whole milk! You’d think that something with a little more fat like half and half would be better, but milk has just the right amount of fat to set up and it froths like a dream. However, I do add a touch of heavy cream to give it a bit of extra luxurious body. It’s a winning combination! (Alternatively, to make this dairy-free, I’d use coconut milk with maybe a little coconut cream.)
A handheld frother is the perfect little kitchen gadget to create the cold foam. But, if you have a hand held beater, that would work to aerate it too!
