This salsa is like nothing you’d get out of the jar! Heck, it may even surpass anything you’d get in your favorite restaurant! And the bonus is, once you leave the restaurant you may take home some salsa in a doggie bag. But, when you make it in your own kitchen, you get the tantalizing aroma right there in your own space.
Also, it’s an incredibly budget friendly condiment that works on everything from fajitas to hard or soft tacos, and finally – you can just munch on the salsa with a chip of your choice.
Just like you would in your favorite Mexican restaurant.
Ingredients + substitutions
To make this delicious recipe you’ll need:
- 1 (14 oz.) can fire roasted diced tomatoes
- ¼ cup chopped onion
- 1 medium jalapeno, deveined and deseeded, roughly chopped
- ¼ cup cilantro, roughly chopped
- 1 ½ tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon hot smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne
If you don’t have fresh limes…you can substitute in bottled lime juice.
I find that the salsa works best when it’s well blended. That way it doesn’t separate and get watery. Keep all of those ingredients the same size for optimum flavor, yo!
Diets, allergens, and substitutions
This recipe will work well for almost every diet! Just check your canned tomatoes to make sure they only have tomatoes as the ingredient. Also, to reduce the sodium simply omit salt and vinegar.
