I love pizza and have made many different types of pizza crusts. I love to make sourdough pizza crust, coconut flour pizza crust, and I’ve even been known to make chicken pizza crust (it’s so good). Today I’m sharing a recipe for almond flour pizza crust that is light and crispy and is a great family friendly alternative. I use simple ingredients like almond flour, arrowroot powder, baking powder, egg and olive oil with a few seasonings. The crust is spread on parchment paper and baked until golden brown, then topped with sauce and cheese.
Almond Flour Pizza Crust Recipe
For this recipe you will need almond flour, tapioca flour, baking powder, egg, olive oil, and seasonings like garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients together until combined. Next, add the wet ingredients and mix until a ball forms. Add a few tablespoons of water if needed. The dough will be thick like sugar cookie dough.
Place the almond flour pizza dough onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Top the dough with another sheet of parchment paper and us a rolling pin to roll the dough into a thin, round crust.
Remove the top parchment paper and place the crust in the preheated oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Cover the partially baked crust with pizza sauce and your favorite pizza toppings, and return to the oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
Store leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Ingredient Options and Substitutes:
- Almond Flour: I suggest using blanched almond flour that’s finally ground. This will give your pizza crust a smooth texture that resembles regular pizza dough with all purpose flour.
- Tapioca Flour: You will find this labeled as either tapioca flour or tapioca starch, both products are the same. You can substitute tapioca flour with arrowroot powder if that’s what you have available.
- Egg: You can substitute egg whites or a flax egg in this recipe.
- Seasonings: Adjust to your liking. You can use an Italian seasoning blend if you prefer.
- Toppings: Use your favorite toppings! I like to add a red or white sauce, mozzarella cheese, red pepper flakes, and fresh basil.
- Olive oil: Olive oil is my favorite oil to use in this pizza crust, but you can use avocado oil or your favorite cooking oil.
